The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) offers pathways to permanent residence for individuals who can contribute to the province’s economy. The program includes several streams:

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
This stream is for highly skilled individuals with work experience in Nova Scotia.
Eligibility:
● At least 1 year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience in Nova Scotia in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation.
● Age between 21 and 55 years.
● Canadian high school diploma or equivalent.
● Language proficiency:
○ CLB 7 for TEER 0 and 1 occupations.
○ CLB 5 for TEER 2 and 3 occupations.
● Active profile in the federal Express Entry system.
● Intention to live permanently in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities
This stream selects candidates from the federal Express Entry pool to meet specific labor market needs.
Eligibility:
● Receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.
● Submit a complete application within 30 calendar days of receiving the Letter of Interest.
● Meet the minimum work experience requirements of the Express Entry stream for which you have qualified.
● Demonstrate sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Nova Scotia.
● Have legal status in your current country of residence.
● Meet additional criteria specified in the Letter of Interest.
Skilled Worker
This stream helps employers recruit foreign workers and recently graduated international students whose skills are needed in Nova Scotia.
Eligibility:
● Full-time, permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer.
● At least 1 year of work experience related to the job.
● Age between 21 and 55 years.
● High school diploma.
● Appropriate training, skills, and/or accreditation for the job.
● Language proficiency:
○ CLB 5 for TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations.
○ CLB 4 for TEER 4 or 5 occupations.
● Demonstrate sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Nova Scotia.
Occupations in Demand
This stream targets specific TEER 3, 4, or 5 occupations that are in high labor market demand in Nova Scotia.
Eligibility:
● Full-time, permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in one of the following NOC job categories:
○ NOC 33102: Nurse Aides
○ NOC 65200: Food and Beverage Servers
○ NOC 65201: Food Counter Attendants, Kitchen Helpers, and Related Support Occupations
○ NOC 65310: Light Duty Cleaners
○ NOC 73300: Transport Truck Drivers
○ NOC 73400: Heavy Equipment Operators
○ NOC 75110: Construction Trades Helpers and Labourers
● At least 1 year of work experience related to the job.
● Age between 21 and 55 years.
● High school diploma.
● Appropriate training, skills, and/or accreditation for the job.
● Language proficiency: CLB 4 even if your first language is English or French.
● Demonstrate sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Nova Scotia.
International Graduates in Demand
This stream is for recent international graduates whose skills and education match specific NOC job categories.
Eligibility:
● Full-time, permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in one of the following NOC job categories:
○ NOC 32102: Paramedical Occupations
○ NOC 32124: Pharmacy Technicians
○ NOC 33102: Nurse Aides, Orderlies, and Patient Service Associates
○ NOC 42202: Early Childhood Educators and Assistants
● Age between 19 and 55 years.
● High school diploma.
● Completion of a program of study at an eligible Nova Scotia designated learning institution within three years of your application. The program must have been at least 30 weeks in length or 24 weeks for NOC 33102.
● Certifications issued by Nova Scotia regulatory bodies required for the job.
● Language proficiency: CLB 5.
● Demonstrate sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Nova Scotia.
International Graduate Entrepreneur
This stream is for recent graduates of a Nova Scotia university or the Nova Scotia Community College who have started or acquired a business in Nova Scotia.
Eligibility:
● At least one year’s continuous experience actively managing and owning your current Nova Scotia business (minimum one-third ownership).
● Completion of a degree or diploma after at least two academic years of full-time, in-person study at a university in Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Community College.
● Valid post-graduation work permit.
● Language proficiency: CLB 7.
● Intention to live permanently in Nova Scotia.
Entrepreneur
This stream is for experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to live in Nova Scotia.
Eligibility:
● Age 21 years or older.
● Intention to live permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business.
● Net worth of at least CAD $600,000.
● Investment of at least CAD $150,000 to establish or purchase a business in Nova Scotia.
● At least three years of experience actively managing and owning a business (minimum one-third ownership) or more than five years of experience in a senior business management role.
● Language proficiency: CLB 5.
● Completion of a high school diploma.
● Submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) and receipt of an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
Application Process
1. Determine Eligibility: Review the criteria for the desired NSNP stream.
2. Prepare Documents: Gather necessary documentation, including job offers, educational credentials, language test results, and proof of funds.
3. Submit Application: Apply through the NSNP online portal, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
4. Assessment: The NSNP will assess the application and may request additional information.
5. Nomination: If approved, receive a provincial nomination certificate.
6. Apply for Permanent Residence: Submit a federal application for permanent residence to IRCC within 6 months of nomination.
Processing Times and Draws
● Processing Times: Vary depending on the stream and application volume; typically range from 3 to 6 months.
● Expression of Interest (EOI) Draws: Conducted regularly to invite candidates from the EOI pool to apply.
